About MTANC

Music Therapy ASsociation of North Carolina (MTANC)

History

The Music Therapy Association of North Carolina (MTANC) had it's first organizational meeting on July 15th, 1978, at Queens College in Charlotte, NC. This meeting was organized by music therapist from across North Carolina, including Barbara Memory, Linda Smith, Ruth Boxberger, Cathy McKinney, and Jim Jenkins. On October 10th, 1978, MTANC was incorporated as a North Carolina non-profit organization. 

Purpose

The purpose of MTANC is to join together for the advancement of music therapy as a professional discipline in the state of North Carolina, along with the purposes and objectives of the American Music Therapy Association and the Southeastern Region.
